About UsGeek-dumb is a webcomic about three friends who live together Murphy, Kim, and Bert. They’ve all finished college but weren’t able to find jobs with their degrees. They’re stuck in the same jobs that got them through high school/college. Kim wants to run his own business (he has a finance degree) but is a mall security guard. Bert wants to be a director but he’s just working in a movie theater. And Murphy, well he got a psych degree but he’s not sure what he wants to do anyways. Murphy’s probably the only one who’s content with his job, waiter at a restaurant. They’re best friends, almost family, and the only ones who support each other’s “pipedreams.” To save money the guys rented a house together. This works out well, for the most part, because they share so many similar interests. They’re all gamers, movie fans, and of course geeks. This isn’t to say they don’t have problems from time to time but for the most part things sail along fairly smoothly. The rough spots usually end up being smoothed over in a way that leaves everyone happy and leads to more than a few laughs. There are more than a few odd things that go on around the place. Two of the more permanent oddities are Robot and Couch Potato Zombie. Robot is supposed to be taking care of the place and cleaning up. Whether or not this happens depends on what mode it’s in, how bad the place is, and if there’s anything else it could be doing. No one’s really too sure about CPZ. He’s been on the couch watching tv for awhile and the guys figure that’s probably for the best. After all, we all know the old saying about letting sleeping zombies lie… There is one other character that comes and goes with regularity and that’s Sam (short for Samantha.) Sam is Murphy’s girlfriend. She hangs with the guys pretty often and has no problem matching them in gaming and other geeky activities. Her one weakness is animals. The guys aren’t really sure where she’s rescuing them from but from time to time she’ll show up at their place with a new temporary housemate. *Author’s notes* Geek-dumb is currently being drawn by Tyler but if you’ve gone back to the beginning you probably noticed we started off with a much different style. That was the work of our former artist James. Unfortunately, James couldn’t continue working on the comic and had to leave. But since I wanted to keep writing Geek-dumb I went looking for another artist. That’s how I met Tyler and how we started working together. We’re both huge webcomic fans and we look forward to bringing something new to the webcomic community. There’s still a lot of learning going on over here but we’re making progress. Hopefully someday we’ll be rubbing elbows with the likes of PvPonline, Least I Could Do, Ctrl-Alt-Del, and all of our other favorites. |
